In October, Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected in Belgrade at a ceremony marking the completion of finishing works in the Church of St. Sava. The President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic gave Putin an invitation to the ceremony during his visit to Sochi in December last year.
on the Eve in a telephone conversation with Serbia’s President Putin confirmed that he would come to Belgrade for the occasion, writes the Serbian newspaper “evening news”.
In January 2019 Vladimir Putin visited the Church of St. Sava, together with Survived and Serbian Patriarch Irinej. Both the President and the Patriarch symbolically put three mosaic element around the face of Jesus Christ red, blue and white colors of the Serbian and Russian flags and signed on the model of the mosaic.
With the help of Russia has funded the construction of the mosaic dome of the temple with an area of 1248 square feet. This dome of glass and stone will be the largest of the domes of Orthodox churches, made of mosaic. The Russian company “Gazpromneft” first invested in the improvement of the shrines, € 4 million, and then, last year, six.
Serbian Orthodox Church is preparing for the ceremony on the occasion of the completion of the construction of the temple of Saint Sava in Belgrade this year. The ceremony is going to take part and a delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church. The temple of Saint Sava is considered as a symbol of spiritual unity and historical ties between the Serbian and the Russian people.
