Moscow urged not "to seek out the dubious history of" the agreement with Minsk

foreign Minister of Russia Sergei Lavrov called the question on the protracted time of preparation of the Russian-Belarusian agreement on mutual recognition of visas. According to the Minister, the importance of this arrangement is so great that to raise this issue with wrong.

“It does not record the delay between preparation and signing,” said Lavrov after talks with his Belarusian counterpart Vladimir Makei.

a Record in this sense belongs more to the European Union, Lavrov said, referring to “the history of the negotiations that the EU has finally become party to the European Convention on human rights” and a member of the ECHR.

“We have signed a very important document, it is subject to ratification. It is in the interests of strengthening the Union state, – quoted Lavrov TASS. – So here I would still have seen a very significant positive step and not tried to seek out some dubious history.”

the foreign Ministers of Russia and Belarus on June 19 signed an agreement on mutual recognition of visas. The agreement means that citizens of third countries who have a visa of the Russian Federation or Belarus, can enter, leave and sojourn in the territory of these States during the validity period of the visa.

Earlier, the presidents of both countries, Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko in a telephone conversation expressed satisfaction with the completion of this agreement, to sign which was planned in 2018.
