In Russia, took note of the expert opinion of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe regarding amendments to the Constitution. This was announced by the co-chair of the working group on consideration of amendments, the head of the Federation Council Committee on constitutional legislation and state construction Andrey Klishas.
“We have taken note of the position of the Venice Commission, nothing more – quoted Klishas RIA Novosti. – No changes in the specified position in the act of amendment will not be made. The text of the amendment will remain unchanged”.
He added that Russia is “grateful to the Venice Commission for expert opinion.”
As previously reported, the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe have expressed their opinion on the amendment to the Constitution of the Russian Federation according to decisions of the ECHR. It is recommended to delete the proposed addition to article 79 of the Constitution (on international relations), or change the wording.
