The e-prescription has been available since the beginning of the year. We’ll tell you how to redeem it, what you need to pay attention to – and which applications can help.

Patients no longer receive a classic pink paper prescription for prescription medications, but rather an electronic one, the e-prescription: Practices use the electronic health card to transmit the information about the prescribed medication to the pharmacy.

If there are technical problems when issuing or transmitting the e-prescription, the classic paper prescription is used, as is the case when prescribing dressings or aids, such as: B. orthopedic insoles. Those with private insurance will continue to receive the blue prescription slips; the system still needs to be expanded.

Using the electronic health card, on which the doctor’s practice has stored the information about the prescribed medication in encrypted form. The patient inserts the health card into the card terminal at the pharmacy – and the pharmacy team can read the information.

This allows you to conveniently order the prescribed medication from your local pharmacy from home. Many pharmacies offer the digital ordering service via IhrApotheken.de. The QR code is uploaded via the iA.de app (the app from DeineApotheken.de) with just one click, and you can reserve the medication at the local pharmacy or have it delivered by courier as quickly as possible.

The e-prescription saves the patient time and duplicate routes. If the e-prescription is uploaded to the iA.de app and the desired pharmacy is selected, it will inform you directly whether the product is in stock. If so, you can reserve it and pick it up in a relaxed manner. If not, the pharmacy will order it for you – you will be notified as soon as it is ready for collection.

The app also offers an overview of all your orders, which makes it easier to reorder medications that you take regularly. The integrated medication planner reminds you in good time – and helps you not to forget any tablets. You can also find the nearest emergency pharmacy with just one click. And last but not least, coupon campaigns give you discounts when shopping at pharmacies.
