A 16-year-old is said to be responsible for the fatal shot at a fair in Lüdenscheid. Now he is in custody. Investigators accuse him of manslaughter.
After the deadly shot at the fair in Lüdenscheid, a young person was taken into custody on strong suspicion of intentional manslaughter. The suspect resides in Lüdenscheid, the Hagen public prosecutor announced on Tuesday.
Authorities did not provide information about the suspect’s age. According to dpa information, he is 16 years old. The shot is said to have been fired last weekend at the fair in the North Rhine-Westphalian city after a dispute from a group of six. An apparently uninvolved man (40) from Gummersbach was fatally injured.
The teenager was arrested on Monday evening with the help of special forces in Lüdenscheid. The apartment was also searched when he was arrested. Further details were not initially known.
At the fair in Lüdenscheid in the north-west of the Sauerland, there was a “physical altercation” between a 16-year-old and the group on Saturday evening. When the teenager and his 52-year-old father wanted to confront the group, they fled to a residential area, the public prosecutor announced on Monday. According to the information, two of them fired shots from a blank gun and a live firearm while fleeing. The 40-year-old from Gummersbach was fatally hit. The investigators had given the age of the group as 16 to 20 years.
The fair continued despite the incident. It should last until May 29th. According to the organizer, the security staff was strengthened after the incident.
