Certain foods could be the reason for particularly vivid dreams. Lucid dreaming can have various effects on the human body.
The fact that a selected diet can influence our sleep quality is no longer news. Now “Gloucestershire Live” is reporting on a survey by the bed manufacturer “Dreams”, according to which 64 percent of those surveyed said that special foods can trigger vivid and lucid dreams.
If a person dreams lucidly, they can consciously influence their dream. Fermented foods such as kimchi, but also oysters and superfoods such as spirulina, are particularly suspected of triggering nighttime dream journeys.
“The complex nutrients and compounds in certain foods can interact with our bodies and enhance or alter our dream phases,” explains sleep expert Sammy Margo in an interview with Gloucestershire Live.
However, she warns about the dual nature of lucid dreams. These can have advantages such as processing feelings or increased creativity as well as disadvantages such as emotional stress and reduced sleep quality.
According to Margo, fermented foods such as kimchi, sauerkraut or kombucha not only promote intestinal health thanks to their wealth of probiotics: “These foods can lead to more vivid dreams by influencing the intestinal flora, which has a proven connection to brain function and moods via the gut-brain -axis has.”
Furthermore, the so-called “Ancient Grains” and superfoods could influence the vividness of our dreams thanks to their unique nutrients. Ancient grains include, for example, quinoa, amaranth and dwarf millet.
However, science also offers practical methods for those who want to try lucid dreaming without changing their diet. “Braineffect” presents the MILD method (“Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams”), in which the brain is trained to lucid dream by consciously remembering past dreams.
An effective first step is to keep a dream diary. Every morning when you wake up, you should write down all memories of what you dreamed and then read it again in the evening before you go to sleep. This should help to train your dream memory and increase your awareness of lucid dreaming.
Psychologist Stephen LaBerge, a pioneer in the field of lucid dreams, recommends repeating a sleep mantra before falling asleep: “The next time I dream, I will remember that I am dreaming,” Braineffect quotes him as saying. This technique is supplemented by “reality checks”, which help you recognize that you are dreaming. For example, you should check whether you can breathe despite holding your nose.
Testosterone is the male hormone par excellence. If the levels in men are too low, this not only has a negative effect on sexuality, but also on health. According to a new study, above certain levels the risk of dying earlier is increased.
Coffee grounds are pretty versatile and can be used for many different things. Read here why this can also be useful for grilling.
