today, it is widely accepted that the sport is no longer confined to the single competition. Of the rest, the word “sport” refers to, in the current language, as much physical and sporting activities day-to-day practice, athletic codified and regulated. This confusion needs to push public policy to understand the sport even more as beneficial to the general interest. While being a source of innovation and progress.
By the attraction it exercised with all generations and all social classes, by its dimension, omnipresent in everyday life and media, not to mention his contributions in education and in the interdisciplinary research, the sport, in a broad sense, must be the subject of greater attention from policy makers, from all sectors, and in a shared way.
Education in sport, education through sport,
Known for its universality, the sport is nevertheless faced with a new competitor : the screen. The digital era, the widespread use of digital have developed a sedentary lifestyle, and have positioned themselves a priori as the antitheses of physical activity. But rather than oppose the digital and the physical activity and sport, rather than banish the screens, rather than demonize artificial intelligence, put these advances in technology and in the service of the human, by, and for the sport. The sport has its place in these changes. You must take it. We must give it to him.
The issue, in Europe, of the ” restoration movement “, the fight against physical inactivity, particularly among children and adolescents, we must invent and promote new incentives to the practice of sports and physical activities through play, learning, fun and forms of education renewed. The teaching of sport by the digital is a way to take it without hesitation. The challenge is also to demonstrate that, reciprocally, one can learn better in school, and better training throughout the life, through sport.
The field of invention is immense and may take any form to combine education, recreation and teaching. It is a punching bag that is connected to understand the movements of the body in biology and to optimize its performance. It is a gym connected to that project a virtual environment on the floor and the walls. It is find himself pursued by monsters video game while practicing jogging or running while being immersed in a historical location (the Colosseum, Olympia) with a hologram digital. These are concrete experiences that are intended to reconcile the younger generations with the physical activity.
move Better for better learning
At the level of public policy, the areas in which the sport is insufficiently mobilized are many : public health, social cohesion, the fight against socio-economic inequalities and territorial educational material, recognition of skills acquired in the practice and volunteerism, and sports are just a few examples.
To achieve this, it is important to meet and work together elected officials, officers, authorities, but also researchers, educators and teachers, the sports federations and organizers of major events, without forgetting the world economic market and non-market, to achieve a common goal : to make sport indispensable in the design of public policies, cross-cutting, and in particular education.
It is by reconciling the sport, the science, the digital, new technologies, artificial intelligence… that we can achieve also these goals : move better to learn better and to be better recognized by the sport in innovative ! All these questions are the topic of the next review of the think tank Sport and Citizenship and at the heart of a symposium organized in partnership with the Centre for research and interdisciplinarity (CRI), on 5 November in Paris.
