Kanye West and his company are facing a lawsuit for allegations of mistreatment and unfair labor practices towards their employees. The lawsuit, filed in a U.S. District Court, names Kanye West and his former chief of staff, Milo Yiannopoulos, as defendants.
The lawsuit accuses Kanye and his company of engaging in forced labor and cruel treatment towards their adult and minor employees. The employees were allegedly forced to work long hours under harsh conditions, while also being subjected to racist remarks and called “new slaves.”
The lawsuit claims that the mistreatment of employees began in the spring of 2024 when Kanye West decided to launch a streaming service app called YZYVSN to promote his music. Kanye and Milo allegedly hired an international developer group, which included Black members and underage teens, to work on the app remotely using digital communication applications.
Despite promises of payment, employees were required to sign non-disclosure agreements and were threatened with termination if they did not comply. The lawsuit also alleges that Kanye’s managers used discriminatory language towards employees based on their age, race, gender, sexual orientation, and national origin.
In addition to the mistreatment of employees, Kanye’s wife, Bianca Censori, allegedly sent pornographic videos to staff members, including minors, through a file-sharing link. Employees were not compensated for their work on the app, leading them to file the lawsuit seeking damages for unpaid wages, overtime pay, and emotional distress.
The lawsuit highlights the importance of fair labor practices and the need for employers to create a safe and inclusive work environment for all employees. It is crucial for companies to prioritize the well-being of their employees and ensure that they are treated with respect and dignity in the workplace.
