Tottenham is looking to make a major transfer move to replace Emerson Royal, who is set to depart the club. Emerson, who was signed from Barcelona for £25.8m in 2021, has struggled to secure a consistent spot in the starting lineup, especially after the arrival of Pedro Porro, who now holds the right-back position.

With Emerson likely to be sold this summer, AC Milan has shown interest in acquiring the Brazilian right-back. Tottenham is reportedly asking for €20m/£16.9m for Emerson’s transfer, while Milan is willing to pay around €15m-€18m. However, with Milan also targeting Aston Villa’s Matty Cash for a higher fee, there is hope that they might meet Tottenham’s demands for Emerson.

In the latest update from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, it has been revealed that Milan is Emerson’s preferred destination. Meanwhile, Tottenham is eyeing Monaco and Brazil right-back Vanderson as a potential replacement. Vanderson, who has earned two caps for Brazil, has attracted interest from Spurs due to his versatility and attacking contributions.

Vanderson, aged 22, has impressed with 15 goal contributions in 84 appearances for Monaco. Like Porro, he can also operate in a more advanced role on the right flank if needed. However, Monaco is demanding a fee upwards of €40m/£34m for Vanderson, which could be a stumbling block for Tottenham.

Apart from the right-back position, Tottenham is also in talks to sign a new centre-half. Discussions are reportedly underway with an Italian defender who featured prominently in Euro 2024. The upcoming transfer window promises significant changes to Tottenham’s defensive lineup, with Emerson’s departure paving the way for a potential new signing in Vanderson.
