The 49-year-old Dane Johnny Mølby is the new assistant coach of AA Gent. He is next to Peter Balette one of the two assistants of his fellow countryman and head coach Jess Thorup, and signed a contract until 2021 with the Buffalo’s.
Mølby, like Thorup, an ex-profspeler who was active for several clubs in Denmark and abroad. So he ended up in Belgium at KV Mechelen (1994-1996), and secondly, he played for Vejle BK, FC Nantes, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Aalborg and Aarhus. He was also 16 times for the Danish national team and was part of the team that in 1992, the european CHAMPIONSHIPS won in Sweden.
After his spelerscarrière was the cousin of ex-Liverpoolspeler Jan Mølby trainer and he was active at Kolding FC, Aarhus, Horsens and Viborg. Mølby and Thorup know each other from their time as a pro in the Danish league.
